We are working to increase access to echocardiography and the education needed to utilize it effectively, which will radically improve the quality of cardiovascular care provided in Africa and save countless lives.
The Problem
The global burden of cardiovascular disease is rising, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
To diagnose and treat heart disease effectively, a cardiac ultrasound (echocardiogram or echo) is needed.
Most patients with heart disease in Africa will never receive a full echo.
SFA is working with local healthcare facilities in Africa to increase access to life-saving ultrasound technology and the skills needed to operate it.
